We’ve tapped into some of the most experienced and successful Wedding DJs and have come up with the following guidelines and suggestions for becoming a top-notch premier Wedding DJ.

1. Be professional in everything

A Wedding is one of the most important moments in someone’s life and it deserves your full commitment to its success.  From your website, voicemail greeting, prompt return calls, e-mail etiquette, equipment, pricing, lighting, sound/mic quality, attire, early arrival on site, preparedness with all the Wedding details and music requested, pronunciation of names, coordinating with the venue, photographer and any other personnel.  Invest fully and professionally in your Weddings and it will reflect well for you, the Bride and Groom and everyone in attendance.

2. Prepare the Wedding and Reception details online

The modern Bride and Groom are plugged in – and you should be too.  At WeddingDJs.com, we offer secure online Wedding preparation for Brides and Grooms.  All they need to do is create a free account and then connect with their DJ.  Once they’re connected, you will be able to view all of the details they enter, from the Wedding Party introductions to their choice for the last song.  In addition to viewing the information, you can print and e-mail it as well – perfect for Wedding Day preparation.

3. The Bride and Groom have the first and last say in everything

Successful DJs always put the Bride and Groom first – and often the Bride ahead of the Groom.  This means truly listening to their vision for their Wedding, from the atmosphere to the itinerary, from the ceremony to the last song and all of the music and special events in between.  It’s important to well inform and guide couples through some of the uncommon things they might suggest, but in the end, it’s their Wedding and they’re entitled to have it their way.

4. Regularly check in with your Bride and Groom every few months

Regularly connect with your couple and say ‘hi’ and offer your assistance in helping them prepare for their Wedding. This sends a message that you care about them more than just clients, but are genuinely invested in ensuring a great Wedding experience.

5. Meet or video conference with the Bride and Groom about a month in advance of the Wedding

This will serve as your final official connection and will identify any remaining decisions the Bride and Groom need to complete prior to the Wedding.  Try to have everything in place at least 2 weeks prior to the Wedding and we recommend collecting any remaining balances at this time as well.

6. On the day of the Wedding, make sure you’re well rested and have everything you need for a successful Wedding

Check and re-check all of the crucial elements of the day to ensure everything goes as planned and expected.  Arrive early and connect with all the important people to review the itinerary and responsibilities of the day.

Lastly,

Try to keep to the schedule and be prepared for last minute changes.  Go with the flow and make sure you fulfill everything you’ve promised.  Go the extra mile and do everything in your power to make the Bride and Groom’s Wedding Day everything they’ve dreamed it would be.
